IPL Head to Head Records: Every Team Rivalry Compared

Updated October 2026 | All stats are as of the end of IPL 2026 (final played 31 May 2026).

Every head-to-head record between the 10 current IPL franchises, all 45 rivalries, in one place. The 1068 matches counted here cover every meeting between today’s ten teams from 2008 to the 2026 final. Records include each franchise’s earlier names: Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Deccan Chargers, Pune Warriors, Gujarat Lions, Rising Pune Supergiant and Kochi Tuskers Kerala no longer exist and are not included, and Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad are treated as separate franchises, as in the official record.

IPL Head to Head Records: What a Head to Head Record Means and How to Read It

A head-to-head record counts every IPL match between two teams: matches played, wins for each side, and no results. Three rules matter when you compare numbers here with other lists:

  • Tied matches are credited to the team that won the Super Over (or the eliminator in the earlier bowl-out style). They count as wins, not ties.
  • No results include rain-affected games where a result was impossible and matches abandoned without a ball being bowled. Both count as matches played, because the points were shared.
  • Voided matches that were called off and replayed in full, such as the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals game halted in Dharamsala in May 2025, are counted once, through the replayed match.

‘First meeting’ and ‘Last meeting’ give the span of the rivalry. Because Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants joined in 2022, any rivalry involving them has far fewer matches than the original franchises’ fixtures, so percentages there can swing a lot in one season.

Reading across the grid, a few patterns stand out. The original franchises have all met each other more than 30 times, and most of those rivalries are closer than their reputations suggest. The biggest gaps come where one side had a dominant era: Mumbai against Kolkata, Chennai against Delhi, and Sunrisers against Punjab.
